EMN HU National Conference „The outlook of European migration in the changing international environment” - 25 October 2021, Budapest

On 25 October 2021, the annual National Conference of the Hungarian Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN) on "The outlook of European migration in the changing international environment" took place at the Ministry of Interior. Concerning the participants of the event - held in a hybrid format - Hungarian migration experts and experts from the EMN Contact Points were present.

The conference was opened by Dr. Gábor Tóthi, Head of the European Cooperation Department of the Hungarian Ministry of Interior, and the event was chaired by Dr. Tímea Lehoczki, Head of Department. Among the speakers were Hungarian migration experts, as well as specialists from foreign bodies and organizations. The seven panelists came from ICMPD, the Hungarian National University of Public Service, the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), the Joint Coordination Platform (JCP), the Migration Research Institute, and eu-LISA.

In the first panel of the event, the migration situation and challenges were discussed, while the second panel focused on the migration outlook. The event focused on three main themes: (1) how the situation on the main migration routes has changed; (2) how this change has affected the European approach to migration; (3) what new tools and resources are available.
